There's a lot that you can (and shouldn't) do in proposing qualitative research that will often enhance its fundability. My pet peeve with qualitative research proposals is when the author says something along these lines (Of course, I'm paraphrasing here. No good qualitative researcher would come out and say something like this directly.):

The organization, pace, and interactive elements of the workshop helped me to understand all the necessary elements of the program and put this knowledge into practice immediately. As a visual learner, I felt comfortable each step of the way as I was guided in a systematic exploration of this very useful program.
What a terrible name - a dissertation defense . It seems to suggest some sort of war that you're trying to win. And, of course, with four or five of them and only one of you it sounds like they may have won the war before the first battle is held. I wish they had called it a dissertation seminar or professional symposium. I think the name would have brought forward a much better picture of what should be expected at this meeting.
The instructor was very patient with us and thorough in his explanations of the software. He also went beyond just teaching the software by also incorporating qualitative methodology into the instruction.
This course offers all the basics in getting started with . It is an excellent introductory course. I strongly recommend it to anyone considering using this research tool.
